Description

The hike begins at the Giants Castle camp and follows a well-maintained path to the Main Caves. The walk is short and easy, making it accessible for hikers of all ages and fitness levels.

Upon reaching the caves, you’ll find the entrance fenced, with guided tours commencing hourly from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Each tour accommodates a maximum of 13 people, so it is advisable to arrive early to secure your spot. The guided tour provides a detailed interpretation of the rock paintings, including a depiction of antelopes from behind, a posture known as foreshortening, which is unique to the Drakensberg in South Africa.

The site also features an open-air museum, showcasing the life and ways of the Bushmen who used this cave up until the 1880s. The model scene inside the cave offers a life-sized representation of a Bushman family, adding depth to the historical context provided by the guide.
